Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American singer-dancer and actress. Her initial appearances on Broadway include the Musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. She was awarded an award from the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play to play Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford spent the majority of her career working alongside renowned actors and directors across stage film and television and she will continue that work with several upcoming projects. Ashford will next be seen in the role of Kumail Nanjiani as part of the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently in production for Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. It's also available in the form of an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford is set to appear as Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre during the march 2023 production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will direct the production. Ashford has been seen most recently as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the National Crisis that saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the middle of the first impeachment proceeding in America in Over an Century. For two seasons, she was the main character of the hit show on CBS called B Positive. It was developed by Marco Pennette, Chuck Lorre and Linda Lavin. The show also had Ben Vereen and Elizondo. Additional Broadway credits for Ashford are Sunday in the Park, as George Wicked legally Blonde, and her role as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance, she was awarded the Tony Award nomination. Ashford, who was brought up in Denver and now lives living in Los Angeles and New York.
